Biography of
Mehdi Rasti
Dr Mehdi Rasti is a dual-affiliated Associate Professor at the University of Oulu. He works at the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) and the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering research unit (WE3). He has around 15 years of experience teaching and conducting research in academia since he obtained his Ph.D. in 2009. He joined CWC in 2021 after working at the Department of Computer Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnique), Iran, where he held several managerial positions, such as Research and Technology Deputy, Director of International Cooperation, Head of ICT Research Centre, and President of Kish-International Campus. He has also been a visiting researcher at several international universities, including Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT), Finland, Wireless@KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and the University of Manitoba, Canada. He is the second author of a textbook entitled “Radio Resource Allocation in Wireless Networks: An Engineering Approach” published by Cambridge University Press in 2017. His current research interests include developing beyond 5G and 6G wireless networks, designing digital twins, cyber-physical systems, and IoT platforms for various verticals, especially the energy sector.
He is the project manager for the “Local 6G Connectivity Solutions (local 6G)” project, Co-PI for the “Reliable 6G for Energy Vertical Applications (REEV)” project, and PI for “Digital-Twin-Enabled and Data-Driven Pavement Maintenance Planning (DigiPave)” project, all funded by Business Finland (BF).
He is an associate editor of IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society and a senior member of IEEE.
