Abhishek Kumar

Abhishek Kumar is a researcher at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing. He focuses on software-hardware co-integration in IoT, energy-efficient computing, distributed XR, and 6G software architecture. His work explores IoT data fabrics, software-defined infrastructure, and AI-driven optimisation for next-generation computing systems. He is also interested in how ICT can support UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in clean energy and climate action.

Before joining Oulu, he completed his PhD in Pervasive and Multimedia Computing at the University of Helsinki, with a focus on privacy and robustness in ubiquitous computing. He has collaborated with VTT, Ericsson Research, Aalto University, and Nokia Bell Labs and advises Soundxvision Oy, a Helsinki XR startup. His research is supported by FARIA, FICORE, Nokia Foundation, and HPY Research Foundation.
