The University of Oulu is an international science university in the north. It is home to the world’s first 6G Flagship research centre. Telecommunications technology, particularly wireless telecommunications research, has been a strength of the University of Oulu since the 1st G in the 1980s. Rector Jouko Niinimäki tells about the University of Oulu where 6G Flagship resides.
“I came from Spain as an Erasmus student in 2005, did all my studies here and never left,” says Associate Professor Miguel Bordallo López.
“Finland looked very attractive to me because it had good educational system, it had safety in the society, it was one of the most equal countries in the world,” says Wireless Communications Engineering alumnus Samad Ali.
Many high-ranking experts have chosen Oulu and the University of Oulu. Professor Mehdi Bennis and PhD candidate Katherine Mimnaugh, who have made Oulu their permanent home, discuss their motivations in relocating to Oulu.
Professor Mehdi Bennis is an IEEE Fellow, Academy of Finland Research Fellow, who works at the Centre for Wireless Communications and 6G Flagship at the University of Oulu. He belongs to 1% of the world’s most influential researchers.
