THz Sensing
Extremely high data rates and high-resolution sensing are some of the key targets for 6G. This demonstration shows how communication and sensing can coexist in the same 6G system enabled by the narrow beam width and beam steering techniques as well as novel materials.
We use both lens antenna arrays and phased antenna arrays as beam-focusing techniques. For this purpose, we have developed new composite materials and innovated new kinds of lenses at the University of Oulu which are environmental-friendly, low in weight and in electrical losses. With the lenses, we can adjust the system performance for the communication or for the imaging purposes. With this method, we can also perform remote sensing which creates both economical and sustainability benefits for the society.
